Sam Database

Samwise Gamgee!!
__________________
~the good friend who never strived for the Ring...

As the son of Bell Goodchild and Hamfast Gamgee, and a simple hobbit in the Shire, is the side-kick and man-servant and loyal friend of the main character of the storyline, Frodo.

For many times, he has helped Frodo get out of tough situations, and even saved him from a tall and merciless orc tower! His enjoyment of adventures and willingness to learn about new things makes him quite a sporty person. Did I mention that Bilbo Baggin's stories, which he heard, about the outside world and all its wonders, had inspired Sam greatly. Eventually, he dreamt about meeting other beings, especially the elves.

He just happened to be working in the garden outside the house, where Gandalf was telling Frodo about the One Ring, and got caught by Gandalf, and was unjustly punished with a responsibility of keeping Frodo safe on his journey to Rivendell, the beautiful abode of the elves.

Unlike Frodo, Sam does not come from a noble family, this simpleness has softened his heart and made him kind, compassionate, loyal, faithful and truthful to his friends, including Frodo. In terms of appearance, he is plump and has curly hair, and is armed with a dagger.
He disliked Gollum, or Smeagal, and did not trust him. I do not know why, but this hobbit somehow knows who to trust. Either that or he had unconsciously made the right choice, as his distrust towards Gollum had saved their lives again.

He always encouraged and cheered Frodo up and even at times, when Frodo is down, he even offered to carry his burden for him. He truly is a great friend! When he thought that Frodo had died, he did not give up on the quest and continued on with the Ring, despite the fact that the he was not allowed to be present at the Council of Elrond.

He had no despair in him, he is the type who would help you up when you fall, be it physically or emotionally. He remained faithful to Frodo, even after their quest had ended. His honesty and faithfulness really touched me.

Reasons for choosing Sam to be featured in this blog:

Well, overall, in an extreme summary, he is a great and significant guy. If I could meet him in person in reality, it would be so cool! What I have learnt from him, is that you do not need to be rich or famous to be liked, you just have to be good in your own ways, and when others observe your kindness, you will be truly liked by them... :)

Three links Sam would probably be interested in:
1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samwise_Gamgee - Sam would probably be thrilled and honoured to see himself being featured on a webpage on a super-famous website. His goodness will be known to the inspired world!

2. http://tolkiengateway.net/wiki/Elves - Sam loves elves, this would quench his thirst.

3.http://www.friendster.com/ - I'm serious about this one, it is not meant to be a joke. You see, Sam is a very good friend to Frodo, and I'm sure many who have heard about him will want to befriend him, much to his happiness.

You have learnt this about Sam:

Kind and Compassionate
Faithful and Loyal to Friends

Significance:
Frodo's side-kick
Frodo's man-servant
Frodo's close friend
